Funded through a generous gift from international business leader and entrepreneur Harvey Karp, the Harvey L. Karp Discovery Award is intended to provide seed funding to the most exceptional young postdocs at UC Santa Barbara early in their careers and support their innovative research.
All faculty members in the Division of Mathematical, Life, and Physical Sciences (MLPS) and the College of Engineering are invited to nominate a postdoctoral fellow for this prestigious award that provides seed funding to support his/her innovative, cutting-edge research, that might be considered too risky by agencies such as NIH. The funds awarded may be used by the young scientist for any costs associated with the proposed project including salary, research supplies and access to equipment and instrumentation. Domestic and international postdocs may apply for the $47,000 award. Application packages should include a proposal of suggested research no more than three pages long, a curriculum vita, and two letters of recommendation. Attached you will find the new flyer with the specifics or you may find more information on the MLPS Webpage at: 2018 Harvey L. Karp Discovery Award
The deadline for submission of applications is April 27, 2018.
